Frequently Asked Questions

What size can I expect my Bernedoodle to reach?

Males will be around 70-85 Pounds and females tend to be a bit smaller by 15-20 pounds, reaching 65-75 pounds full grown. Each gender reaching an average height of 22-27 inches tall to the shoulder.

Are Bernedoodle's hypoallergenic?

Many things can set off an allergic reaction, such as dander or even pet saliva. That being said, Bernedoodle's do take on allergy friendly qualities of their Poodle parent and Bernedoodle's are proven to be low to no shedding, thus the hair that can tickle the nose is mostly, if not completely, reduced. Making them more suited for people who may suffer from mild to moderate pet allergies.

Are Bernedoodle's actually low shedding?

Bernedoodle’s are truly low to no shedding. They have hair rather than a double layer of fur. Meaning that instead of their fur continually shedding out it will stay on them until trimmed. Thus resulting in no hair on you, your home, couch or car (which is a win win in my books).

What is the life expectancy of a Bernedoodle?

Bernedoodles do tend to be healthier dogs than that of their purebred parents. Inbreeding has left many purebred dogs open to genetically inherited diseases and conditions, but cross breeding reduces that risk as you are not combining the unhealthy traits of either breed. Bernedoodle’s have a life expectancy of 12-15 years.

How do I groom my Bernedoodle?

Bernedoodles have hair rather then fur, so their hair won't fall out, (thus the low to no shedding). They will need regular brushing and grooming to keep them free of matts. And a regular trip to the groomer for a trim.

How much activity do Bernedoodle’s need? What is a Bernedoodle's activity level?

Bernedoodle’s have a moderate to low activity level. They love to go outside for play time and walks. And they have enough energy to go on bike rides and long hikes with you. But then they love to have their long naps.

How easy are Bernedoodle's to train?

Bernedoodle's are extremely intelligent dogs. They can pick up on training quickly and willingly. Consistency is key to understanding for them. Bernedoodle’s tend to approach training with a “What is in it for me?” attitude, so use rewards and games to teach them. Bernedoodles are fairly adaptable and go with the flow. They love to please their owners.

How do Bernedoodle's do in cold weather?

Bernedoodles are built for cold weather. Their parent Bernese Mountain Dog can live outdoors full time, year round and this characteristic has been passed down to their Doodle offspring. You would need to keep their coat trimmed longer to accommodate for winter months and colder weather.

How do Bernedoodle's do as inside dogs?

Bernedoodle’s generally don't require much personal space, and as long as their moderate need for physical stimulation is met, they love spending their time cuddled up on the couch close to their beloved family members.

Where are our puppies raised?

We have two individual nurseries with cozy heated beds, lots of fun toys and unlimited access to an outdoor play area. Our puppies days consist of outside play, socialization with us, our children and other dogs and long loooong naps. Each one of our dogs and puppies are a part of our family and get to live their lives roaming freely on our entire acreage, with long games of fetch, belly rubs and lots and lots of love.

Can we come meet the puppies?

We do not allow the public into our puppies nursery, until they have reached the age of 4-5 weeks old.

Unfortunately we do not have set business hours like a pet store that is open to the public. So we limit our appointments to people that are ready to take the next step toward finding a puppy that fits into their family and lifestyle.

Can I come meet your puppies to see if I am allergic to Bernedoodle’s or not?

We do not believe that you would be able to get a good read on if your are less sensitive to a Bernedoodle than other breeds, as our Bernedoodle’s are raised with their Bernese Mountain Dog mom. So all of the hair, saliva and dander of the Bernese Mountain Dog is on and all around the puppies and their environment.
